Roots Of Knowledge Panel M2

Title

Roots Of Knowledge Panel M2

Description

The diagram of the cathedral continues downward, with the rose window of Notre-Dame positioned at the center and flying buttresses common to Gothic architecture flanking the sides. In the spaces beneath the flying buttresses are portraits of medieval figures, such as Marco Polo and Kublai Khan, and centers of commerce and culture, such as the Jameh Mosque of Isfahan in Persia and Great Zimbabwe in sub-Sahara Africa. Running horizontally on the outer walls are seals of universities founded during the Middle Ages, including Oxford and the Sorbonne.
